Steeped in industrial heritage, Greengate is a burgeoning neighbourhood with a distinctive identity, where independent operators flourish.

The Eagle Inn

Tucked inside Colliers Yard is this Grade II listed traditional pub and adjoining award-winning music venue, contained within a former Victorian terraced house.

With the “Electric Landlady” at the helm, this historic haunt combines a welcoming atmosphere, original features and a packed events calendar. There’s a working jukebox too, filled with classic albums and a nod to Manchester’s musical legacy.

The Blackfriar Public House and Restaurant

When the sun is shining, locals can enjoy drinks in its award-winning garden and outdoor tavern.

Visitors can enjoy a Spiced Rum Experience, learning about the history of spiced rum, its connection to Salford Docks and the distillery’s journey so far.

Conni’s Focacceria

This family owned hidden gem is an authentic Italian food shop and deli serving Neapolitan Focaccia, paninis, pastries and pasta. It is renowned among locals for its breads, fresh cheeses, sweet cannoli and excellent range of Italian deli goods.

Close Male Grooming (Barbers)

Manchester’s original, bespoke male grooming experience was established by owner Alex with the help of his friends and some money borrowed from his Grandparents.

Offering a boutique, vintage, relaxed and quirky vibe, Close has since grown to seven salons across Manchester city centre and its suburbs, with all barbers skilled in traditional cutthroat shaves.

Embankment Cafe Co.

Open daily, this industrial-style neighbourhood café offers a relaxed hangout spot for locals to savour their delicious selection of coffees, teas, cakes and pastries. Make the most of the Manchester sunshine by enjoying a coffee in their outdoor courtyard.

Sainsbury’s Local

This British institution is located just a three-minute walk from Colliers Yard. Aside from stocking all of the essentials, this local store houses a bakery, banking facilities and offers groceries on demand via its Chop Chop service.

Greengate Railway Arches

A stone’s throw from Colliers Yard are Norton Street Arches, ten derelict railway arches which have achieved planning permission for a £3m investment. The arches will be transformed into food, drink, retail and leisure spaces, creating a vibrant destination for the local community to enjoy.

The project forms part of Project 1000, The Arch Company’s £200m plan to bring a thousand empty or derelict spaces into use across England and Wales by 2030.
